Stimming

This product design project explores the intersection of behavioral patterns and tactile comfort, focusing on hair twirling as a form of self-stimulatory behavior (stimming). Through personal experience and design research conducted during my Foundation Design studies, I investigated how physical, repetitive movements serve as natural anxiety-relief mechanisms.

The resulting design solution offers an alternative tactile experience that maintains the soothing qualities of stimming while providing a more conscious and controlled interaction. By translating the familiar motion of hair twirling into a purposefully designed object, the project addresses both the functional and emotional aspects of self-soothing behaviors.
