This experimental data visualization project transforms the linear nature of TikTok's ForYou feed into immersive topographical landscapes. Unlike traditional social media where users curate their feed through follows, TikTok's algorithm curates content for passive scrolling, creating unique viewing experiences.
 

Each map captures a distinct scroll session, with hashtag frequencies sculpting the topographical features - recurring tags form peaks while less common ones create valleys. These landscapes not only visualize user engagement but also expose the algorithmic lens through which TikTok "sees" and categorizes users at a specific moment. As users' interests and interactions evolve, their topographical signatures shift, creating an ever-changing digital terrain.
