Ironically
This research-based project examines the manifestation of irony in public spaces, exploring its complex relationships with kitsch, protest, and art. Through systematic documentation and analysis, the work reveals how irony is deeply woven into fundamental social structures, creating fascinating tensions between apparent naivety and hyper-awareness.
Completed as a Final Project at the Department of Visual and Material Culture, Bezalel Academy for Art and Design, the study maps out instances where ironic expression serves as both a cultural mechanism and a form of social commentary. The project demonstrates how these expressions often oscillate between seemingly innocent presentations and highly self-aware critiques.
